Those who know me may be surprised to hear that I am not a very involved mom in my son's school. It's not that I don't want to be - I honestly always thought I would. I mean, it's right up my alley of favorite hobbies! I love baking and party planning - "Room Mom" is a label meant for a stay-at-home mom like myself. However, at the beginning of the school year, my son's teacher explained to all the parents that any party treats for the class must be store-bought. I think that killed my mojo.

A few weeks ago, Jackson came home with a flier from school asking for help for an upcoming event - the Winter Carnival. The title read, "Calling all bakers!" It certainly got my attention. It went on to say that they were looking for contributions of baked goods for their event. The best part - it could be homemade! I decided right then and there that we would make my Chewy Brown-Butter Chocolate Chip cookies. They are the perfect amount of sweet decadence that you can't help but crave; an all-time favorite with my family and friends.

The kids and I got to work. We all wore our aprons (and chef hats), and everyone took turns adding ingredients and mixing. In the end, we made enough cookies to fill 6-dozen bags with two cookies each. That's 144 chocolate chip cookies for those of you keeping track.

Tonight is the Winter Carnival. I will let you all know how it goes.

XOXO,

Cassie
