Last Saturday, I had the immense pleasure of photographing a truly beautiful wedding at Richardson Farm in Wayne, Illinois. This picturesque location is the bride Virginia's grandparent's horse farm, making it a deeply personal and meaningful setting for their special day. I'd like to share a few of my favorite moments from this unforgettable celebration.
1. Heartfelt Notes from the Bridesmaids
The morning of the wedding was filled with touching moments, one of which was the bridesmaids' heartfelt notes to Virginia. They had written these letters the day before and shared them with her as she was getting ready. The joy and emotion in the room were unmistakable, and it was a privilege to capture these intimate moments of friendship and love.
2. A Walk Among Hand-Planted Pines
Virginia's grandfather had personally hand-planted the pine trees on the property from seed, making them a special part of the farm's history. Taking Virginia and Connor to these trees for some portraits was truly magical. The love and pride in Virginia's eyes as she stood among the trees planted by her grandfather were moments I'll cherish forever.
3. The Bridesmaids' Dresses
Normally, bridesmaids' dresses wouldn't make my list of favorite things, but this time they were simply too beautiful to ignore! The delicate blue floral pattern of the dresses paired with the bright bouquets was a stunning combination. They were unique, elegant, and added a classic touch to the entire day.
4. Connor's Odo Socks
One of the sweetest details was Connor's socks, which featured their beloved cat, Odo. Connor shared a charming story about how Virginia brought Odo home shortly after they discussed getting a cat. Though Connor wasn't quite prepared at first, he quickly grew to love Odo dearly. Odo couldn't be there for the wedding day, but he was certainly there in spirit, represented playfully on Connor's socks. It was a touching and humorous nod to their shared life and love.
