One of the best things about an extended family session? The kids arrive with built-in playmates—and with five little ones between these two families, this evening was never going to be too serious. Exactly as it should be!
Josie and Jake met me at Cantigny Park with Jake’s brother, Max, and his family for an evening of extended family portraits in Wheaton. We made time for the photographs of everyone together, but we also let the kids play, run, cuddle, and make one another laugh. They gave us sweet smiles, big personalities, and plenty of moments that could never have been planned.
The last time I photographed Josie and Jake’s family, Camila was still on the way. This time, she was right in the middle of everything with her brothers and cousins! It was so much fun seeing how their family has grown since our last session.
Cantigny also happened to have live music and a beer garden that evening. At one point, Max returned with a couple of beers for the dads—and naturally, that deserved a photograph too. Extended family portraits for the kids, a cold drink for the dads…everybody wins!
That is what I love about photographing families in this season. We get the classic portrait where everyone is together, but we also make room for the fun. The photographs don’t only show what everyone looked like; they feel like an evening spent with the people who already know how to make each other laugh.
Josie and Jake, it was so much fun seeing your family again and finally meeting Camila! Max and Amy, I loved getting to meet your family and having everyone together this time. Thank you all for spending such a fun evening with me at Cantigny! Now grab a blanket, snuggle in, and enjoy this sneak peek!
Thank you again for trusting me to photograph both of your families! I hope you love this first look at everything we created together. There are so many more sweet and playful moments still to come, and I cannot wait to share the full gallery with you!
