Jen and Adam’s Crystal Lake maternity session started at home in the nursery they’ve been preparing for their twin boys and ended in the golden hour glow at Veterans Acres Nature Preserve. But the thing that made this session feel so special was how personal it all was.
Their home had so much personality — sweet pups, a very chill kitty, guitars, records, concert posters, and a nursery that already felt full of meaning. While we were taking photos, I noticed the guitar hanging on the wall and asked Adam if he played. He did.
So naturally, I asked if he would play for the babies. And that one simple moment became the heart of the whole session. There is something so sweet about photos that could only belong to one family. Adam playing guitar in the nursery. Jen standing close with her hands on her belly. Their boys already surrounded by so much love, music, and anticipation. It was simple, sentimental, and so completely them.
After a few photos at home, we headed to Veterans Acres Nature Preserve in Crystal Lake for the rest of their maternity session, and of course, the guitar came with us. The light was soft, the spring greens were showing off, and Jen and Adam made the whole evening feel easy — walking, laughing, snuggling, and even dancing a little while Adam played in the golden hour glow.
Jen and Adam, thank you so much for inviting me into this season with you. I loved how personal your session felt from beginning to end, and I’m so excited for your family as you get ready to meet your boys. They are already so loved. Now grab a blanket and snuggle up — your sneak peek is live!
Jen and Adam, thank you so much for inviting me into such a sweet season. I loved getting to capture this time for you, and I’m so excited for all that’s ahead for your growing family. Can’t wait for you to see more.
