Some stories are extra sweet to photograph because they do not feel like a brand new beginning. They feel like the next chapter. Katie and Brad are one of those couples for me.


I first met them through Rachael Watson Photography, and from the beginning, they were the kind of couple you just love spending time with. Warm, fun, easygoing, quick to laugh, and so genuinely sweet together. Over the last year, I have had the joy of photographing some really meaningful seasons for them, and walking into their home to meet their baby boy felt like the sweetest full-circle moment. Because now, their story includes Niko. Sweet Nikolas.


The same couple who stood together on their wedding day last spring is now learning life as a family of three, and that is the part that gets me every time. Wedding days are beautiful, of course. They are joyful and emotional and full of so much anticipation. But what comes after the wedding is where the story keeps growing. And this chapter is such a tender one.


Katie and Brad’s lifestyle newborn session was quiet, cozy, and full of all the little moments that make the newborn season feel so precious. Sleepy snuggles. Tiny fingers. Soft blankets. Nursery details. The way Niko curled right into them like he had always belonged there.


There is something really beautiful about photographing a family at home in those first days with a new baby. Nothing has to be overly perfect or polished. The beauty is already there in the way everyone is settling in together. The feeding breaks, the tiny stretches, the pauses for snuggles, the little glances between mom and dad that say, “Can you believe he is really here?” That is what I loved most about this session.


Katie and Brad were so natural with Niko. They loved on him so sweetly, and watching them step into this new season as parents was such a gift. They have always been fun and easy to photograph, but seeing them with their son added a whole new layer of sweetness to their story.
